Trackwork at Pukekura Raceway
Tuesday 3rd April 2018
Course Proper. Track Dead. Markers True.

With the track proving ideal Autumn going, the session was reasonably busy.

Time honours of the morning went to track specialist Called Doubt who worked a 1000m, the last 600m in 35.2.

Only slightly slower was Joyride, who did identical work covering the last 600m in a quick 35.3 seconds.

The Millar Racing pair of Effectav and How’s That Girl worked well together over 1000m, recording a 36.2 second time for the last 600m. Effectav, whilst disappointing last campaign, may bounce back. Both horses are expected to race at Awapuni on Friday.

Turncoat and Fields Of Fire were paired together over 1000m, the last 600m in 36.9. It was sound work.

Spondulix looked forward to resume when working with Affluent over 1000m, running the last 600m in 37.4.

From the Wheeler team, Alamcpherson and Quaff worked attractively over 1000m, the last 600 in 36.6. Both are likely starters on their local track at Thursday’s Autumn Races.

Another two who may race at New Plymouth this week are Mastercourtsman and Regal Rock, who also worked 1000m, the last 600 in 36.5.

Time Bomb and Hezhightenzile were paired together over 1000m, coming home the last 600m in a fast 36.1 seconds. Both worked well.

Malo Bik and Cottoneva also worked well over 1000m, the last 600 in 35.9.

Lorde Have Mercy, preparing for the start of a new campaign, was partnered by Stylish Applause over 1000m, the last 600 in 36.9. Both have ability to win at short notice.

Working solo, Telluwhat and Porotene Mistress each ran 1000m, the last 600 in 37.1 and 36.3 respectively. Porotene Mistress in particular looked to work well.

On the sand the winter galloper Rosewood confirmed its preparation for a winter campaign working steadily over a round, sprinting the 600m in 40.6.
