Trackwork at Pukekura Raceway
Tuesday 9th May 2017
Course Proper. Markers Out 2m. Slow 7.
With local Saturday racing, it was a very busy morning at Pukekura Raceway.
Time honours went to the Allan Sharrock pair of Art Deco and Gypsy Fair. With first use of the track they galloped a strong 1200m, the last 600m in 35.01. It was first class work.
Whilst a little slower the Sharrock pair Ice House and Turncoat did similar strong work, the last 600m in 37.3.
Called Doubt worked over 1000m, the last 600m in 37.4. It was sound work by itself.
Katie McKeen, preparing for the open 1800m on Saturday also worked alone over 1400m, the last 600m in 37.84. She has a good record on her home track and if the rain does eventuate, she will be extremely competitive.
The Don Caskey trained pair of Road To Rock and 2yo Kalapur, who races on Saturday, ran a slick 600m in 37.03 later in the morning. Kalapur does show promise after a placed jump out at Hawera last week.
The Rob Patterson trained due, Woodbine Lad and King Nero, ran a strong 1200m, the last 600 in 38.11. Woodbine Lad is ultra consistent and appears a strong chance for Saturday.
Other gallopers with their 600m time are below;
- Darci Mac and Jackson Road | 37.2
- Hard To Be Humble and Time Bomb | 39.1
- Runway and Sublime Habit | 38.12
- Catwomandu | 38.3
- Rosewood and Dynamite Lucy | 38.5
- Light Em Up | 38.7
