Course Proper. Markers 3m 

After weekend rain the course proper presented in a heavy state.

Kawi galloped 1200m, on the inside strip finishing strongly at the line. The last 600 in 38.52. Kawi has gone forward in presence and fitness since the Makfi, in preparation for the Windsor Park Plate. A ‘jumpout’ run is also scheduled for Friday.

Last start winner, New York Minute, worked quietly on the sand and the mare looks very bright presently, and will back up in Saturday’s Merial Metric Mile.

Bishopbriggs and Madonna Mia, in preparation for Saturday worked over 1200 with the last 600 in 38.60.

Darci Mac continues to impress on the training track. On the sand over 1000, he ran his last 600 in 39.86. He returns to Hawkes Bay Saturday week.

On the grass Art Deco and Valentia in preparation for the local meeting went a solid 1200 the last 600 in 40.26. Valentia has solid form and could be a serious contender in the Maiden 1400, Art Deco contests the NZB Pearl Series 1400 where he will be a favoured runner.

Victoria’s Legacy, entered for the Maiden 1100 at New Plymouth worked over 1000m the last 600 in 40.90. The mare has been working well recently and a ‘fresh up’ effort would not be unexpected.

Brave Kat and King Nero (Ekraar 1800) worked within themselves over 1000m the last 600 in 43.15.

The Graduate relished the heavy conditions working away from the 800, the last 600 in 41.80
