Taranaki Racing today announced the stakes breakdown for the August 25th Naki Challenge race.
Stake is now $101,000 being
4th – 14th $1,000 each
Eight of the fourteen slots have already been confirmed including entries from
Pee Gee Bloodstock
Sir Patrick and Lady Justine Hogan
Plus two unnamed owners, including one from Australia.
Club CEO, Carey Hobbs, is very pleased with the initial response.
“99% of the feedback has been positive. We are confident this will be exceedingly well received by the industry”.
He also expanded on why Taranaki has chosen a winter date. “This is part of our strategy to get this date as New Zealand’s end of Winter Championship. The track will, in all probability, be Slow/Heavy and at this time of the year this will give a large incentive for horses that are adept in wet tracks. Firm/Easy track horses have plenty of opportunity to run for good stakes, especially with the Hawkes Bay Carnival just around the corner. This will give the winter horses an excellent opportunity”.
