Pentathlon was the star turn in this morning’s work on a good grass proper, in company with stablemate, Newstead. Working firstly a lap at ¾ pace the pair increased the tempo from the 1200m mark, second time running strongly to the line, the last 600 in 36.10.

Pentathlon presents well and contests the Nathan’s Memorial on Saturday in preparation for the Auckland Cup.

Almosta, and Kawi’s half-brother On Debut, enhanced their prospects with strong work over 1200m, running the last 600 in 36.49. Last start winner, On Debut, is nominated for Hastings twilight meeting on Thursday while Almosta starts at Awapuni on Friday.

Eyeswideopen, who debuts at Awapuni, accompanied Absolutely Me over 1000m, running the last 600 in 36.765. Eyeswideopen shows promise. Absolutelyme, who has been freshened up, is likely to reappear at the Egmont meeting on the 11th of March.

Smoken Hot went an easy 1000m, the last 600 in 38.73. She impressed when winning a jump recently and races this week at Awapuni.

Battle Kat and Demi, with Janelle Millar, worked over 1000m at good clip, covering the last 600m in 37.90 seconds. Battle Kat ran an encouraging second last start and races next at Awapuni on Friday.
