Trackwork

Trackwork at New Plymouth Raceway

Tuesday 13th October 2020

Course Proper. Markers 20m

After overnight rain the track had deteriorated into the slow range.  With races at Hawera on Saturday, and Jump Outs at the same venue on Monday, it was a quiet morning.

Time honours went to Rosewood, who appreciated the wetter conditions. running 1200m, the last 600m in 38.9. If she gets race day track conditions to suit, she may show a form reversal.

The jumper Master Courtsman galloped two rounds before sprinting the last 600m in 41.0. He is an outside chance in the Great Northern Hurdles.

Fellow jumpers Grinner and Macklemore did 3/4 work over two laps, and are due to gallop tomorrow.

The Dissident of Warren Bolton’s galloped easily 1000m, home in 39.8.

London Express, who goes to Hawkes Bay on Saturday, had Waisake as a companion over 1400m, the last 600 in 39.0. There is no reason to suggest London Express won’t be very competitive.

Redgum and Black Eyed Sue ran 1400m, the last 600 in 39.7. They certainly worked well enough to win a maiden.

Quality gallopers Ladies First and Penelope Cruz ran 1200m, home in 39.0.  It was a sound gallop as were stablemates Sumi and an unnamed Showcasing from the Sharrock stable. They ran a slightly slower 39.9 but it was still good work.

From the Millar barn, Smarty Pants and a Per Incanto/Rites of Spring worked 1000m, the last 600 in 39.8.  It was good work by the Per Incanto as Smarty Pants won well last start.

The final gallop was Ekstrememiss over 1400m, the last 600 in 42.1. Ekstrememiss has had very little luck in recent starts.
