Course Proper. Markers 24m. Track Slow
Beautiful Taranaki morning on a track in the slow range.
Time honours on the busy morning went to Gerda who galloped a solo 1000m, the last 600 in a quick 38.6. It was an excellent gallop.
Just as quick was the good mare Sinarahma who galloped in company with Our Hail Mary. They were well held over the last 600 in 38.6.
From the Millar stable One of the Best was paired with Shezabelle over 1000m, the last 600m in 38.9. It was a sound gallop.
London Express who is on target for the Grp III 1400m at her home track in a fortnight galloped a solo 1200m, the last 600 in 39.1. The mare is in great form.
Another quality mare, Ladies First, looks to be coming to hand well. She worked solo over 1200m, the last 600 in 9.6.
Stable mates Beckidboo and Waisake did identical work in identical time as Ladies First. Waisake looks improved by his first-up run.
Maidens Irish Flare partnered Nogolf Etikit over a round, with the last 600m in 41.4. Irish Flare was just in front and worked very well. Nogolf Etikit appears to be over a minor hiccup that caused her to be scratched last week.
Smarty Pants worked well with Drop The Beat. They ran 1200m, the last 600 in 39.8. Smarty Pants ran a great race last start and is due a victory.
Enchanted Lady galloped with Power of the Kitty. They ran 1000m, the last 600 in 41.6. Power of Kitty nearly caused an upset last start whilst Enchanted Lady was disappointing.
Remarx galloped with Black Eyed Susan over 1200m, the last 600 in 41.5. Remarx is being saved for New Plymouth on the 26th of this month, on, hopefully, a better track.
Cleaver and Grinner galloped over a round, sprinting the last 600m in 41.2. Cleaver made a good fist of his first hurdle start and should be very competitive at Ellerslie on Saturday.
Tequila Spirit worked with stable mate La Strata over 1200m, the last 600 in 39.2.
Connolly and Shanghai Express did similar work home in 40.0
From the Patterson barn, Sir Caleb and an un-named Nom Du Jeu worked attractively over 1000m, the last 600 in 39.1. This stable has some fire power ready to strike in the next few weeks.
Hurdler Master Courtsman continued to please as he galloped a round before sprinting the last 600m in 42.1. He is very fit.
The final gallops were all over 1000m or 1200m with 600m times in brackets. Here We Go (41.5), Aratoka (41.7), Call Doubt (41.2), Rosewood (41.3), Penelope Cruz (39.7), Batchelor Babe (40.5).
Call Doubt will have a chance to show his staying prowess as he is likely to attempt the NZB Airfreight Road to the Jericho on September 26th.
