Trackwork at New Plymouth Raceway

Tuesday 4th August 2020

Course Proper. Markers out 15m. Track Slow 7.

Cleaver and Beaudzwell were well paired over a round, before sprinting the last 600m in 39.9. Both horses are in great form with Cleaver going for his third win in a row on Saturday at Hawera.

Time honours of the morning went to All That Jazz and Sir Caleb, who were strong over 1000m, the last 600 in 36.2. It was great work.

Next quickest was Tellyawhat who ran a solo 1000m, home in 37 even.

Blackeye Sue was partnered by Zeefa Zed over 1200m, the last 600 in 39.9. Both horses look close to a win.

Quality mare, Rosewood, ran a solo 1200m, the last 600m in 39.6. She made up a heap of ground first up at Awapuni and looks a likely favourite for the Winter Cup.

Keen To Run was paired with Jazamour over 1000m, the last 600 in 38.0. They kept up a strong gallop.

Aratoka was partnered by Total Sass over 1000m, the last 600 in 39.8. Total Sass looks ready to fire.

Tavi Mac galloped 1000m, in company with Mars Bar. Both worked keenly, the last 600m in 37.9.

Stablemates, Penelope Cruz, and Collinstreet, ran a solid 1200m, home in 38.5.

Meila Rei galloped with an unnamed Eighth Wonder in the Revell stable, sprinting the last 600m in 38.8. It was attractive work.

The jumpers Abacus and Macklemore only did strong pace work. They might both back up in future races at Te Rapa on Saturday.

The final gallops were all over 1000m or 1200m, solo with 600m times in brackets.

Here We Go (38.5), One Of The Best (39.8), Smarty Pants (40.5), Call Doubt (39.8), Ekstrememiss (40.8), Irish Flare (41.2), Hi I’m Nikita (42.0), Batchelor Babe (41.3)

Irish Flare was only just beaten at Wanganui and looked to work well.
