Trackwork Report New Plymouth

Tuesday 12th March  2024

Course Proper

Markers 22M

Soft 5

Time honours of the morning went to Sindee and Bridal Train.  They scampered over 1000M, the last 600 in 36.5.  It was an excellent gallop.

Trentham bound Lord Donovan and Herbert strode over 1200M, the last 600 in 36.9.  Both will be very competitive on Saturday.

It’s Doris and O’Ceirins Dream were well held over 1000M, home in 38.0, whilst Side Piece and Tokyo Hot Night did similar work in 38.2.  Tokyo Hot Night went a great run first up.

Black Betty was partnered by Oso Savvy over a round sprinting the last 600 in 37.9.  It was strong work.  Trainer John Wheeler was at a loss to explain the poor effort of Oso Savvy last start but his work was great and Oso Savvy will press on to the St Leger.

The Mistress and The Fearless One were together over 1000M, home in 39.6.  Whilst stablemates Mary Louise and The Underbelly did identical work, home in 39.1. The Underbelly looks in great condition for the St Leger and is the likely favourite.

Tiny Diamond and Tequila Spirit galloped 1000M, the last 600 in 37.9.  This was a good effort.

Stout had the unraced Ima Derryn O’Ceirin as a partner over 1000M, home in 38.5.

Regal Dice and Hi Yo Sass Bomb looked keen to go faster over 1000M, the last 600 in 37.9.  Hi Yo Sass Bomb will be very competitive in the Cuddle Stakes, especially with a bit of rain forecast.

Our Jumala and Rum Night galloped a steady 1000M speeding up to run 38.8 for the final 600.  Our Jumala is very adept in wet conditions.
