Trackwork at Pukekura Raceway
Course Proper Heavy. Markers Out 15m

With 75mls of rain recorded in the past seven days the Course Proper was in a very heavy state.

Of those who used the grass;

The Graduate and Anystreamwilldo, entered for Egmont on Thursday, galloped over 1000m, with the last 600m in 41.25.

Our Girl Kate and Amour De Jeu paired up over 1000m, with the last 600m in 43. Both horses are entered for Egmont.

Layoff and Valentia (by Iffraaji) worked down to the 800m, coming in from the 600m in 41.85. Layoff resumes in the maiden 1,100 and Valentia makes its debut in the same race.

Miss Bondi and Hard To Be Humble worked to the 1000m, with the last 600m in 43.75. Hard To Be Humble narrowly beaten at New Plymouth could go one better at Hawera on Thursday.

Stanley and Brave Kat worked to the 800m, and sprinted from there, with the 600m in 42.41. Stanley looks particularly well at present. The 1600m at Hawera looks in order for him. Brave Kat steps up to the 2100m at the same meeting.

The balance of the work was restricted to the sand where;

Devi and Cool Wonder worked over 800m, the last 600m in 39.45. Devi returns to racing at Egmont and the mare looks fit and well.

Pentathlon and Awesome Goal galloped a strong 1200m, with the last 600m in 3890. Both horses continue to make good progress towards spring racing.

King Nero and Madam Defarge went together from the 1000m, the last 600m in 39.24. Madam Defarge looks bright in presentation.

Western and Heistheone worked down to the 800m, the last 600m in 38.23. Heistheone impressed.

Jumpers, Wheeler Fortune and Yardstick, worked a strong 1200m impressing from the 600m in 38.45.

Wheeler Fortune’s targets are the Sydenham and the Grand National Hurdles. He shows immense promise in the hurdling game, and will be competitive in both events.
